A solider returns from the war to his modest working class brick home and is greeted by thrilled family, friends and neighbors. A pretty girl with a bow in her hair peaks coyly from around the corner. Every face is expressive and has a story to tell except the soldier whose face we don’t see. This painting was titled Homecoming G.I. and was used as the cover artwork for the May 26, 1945 issue of The Saturday Evening Post and has a caption printed in the lower left hand corner that reads “From The Saturday
