This original MGM Grand was located on the site of what is today Bally’s on the Las Vegas Strip. The original MGM Grand opened in 1973 and at that time was the largest casino in the world and one of the world’s largest hotels. The MGM Grand sold the original property to Bally’s in the 1980s and moved to its current location farther down the Las Vegas strip. MGM used actors and imagery from the studio’s movies to promote the new flagship hotel and casino that bore the company’s name. This poster features an image seemingly inspired by the 1967 MGM war movie classic The Dirty Dozen. The artist’s name appears in the lower right hand corner and looks to be G.H. Jones.
