Bold, smoky, intense, and totally unique. That is how we describe our Lapsang Souchong. It is also why this tea is a favorite of high-end whiskey drinkers and cigar smokers, which is why people either love it or really dislike it. Like caviar or a traditional gin martini, it is one of those things that doesn’t really have a middle ground. The way the Chinese get this flavor is a closely guarded secret very few actually know. But what we do know is that the tea is smoked over pine logs twice, first during the drying phase and a second time when the tea oxidizes.
