Artist: Alexander Runciman (England, 1736–1785), a Scottish painter of historical and mythological subjects.Title: Fingal Encounters Carbon Carglass (upright version).Inscription: A. Runciman inv.Dimensions: Sheet  5 3/8" x 3 1/4".  Backing sheet 7" x 8". Date: first printed c. 1773.Materials and Techniques: etchings on a thin, lightweight wove paper. Mat and Frame: adhered to the backing paper at the top corners.Provenance:  The Estate of George "Yorgo" Demetrakopoulos; professor, assistant director of the Medieval Institute, and assistant to the dean at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, from 1965-2000.Condition: U.l. corner was torn out of the backing sheet and glued again. The signs of aging are appropriate for the time. A detailed condition report is available on demand.Museums and Libraries: The Tate Gallery T03605.
