Apache Tears are rounded pebbles of obsidian. Composed of black natural volcanic glass, their name comes from a Native American legend. After facing a devastating defeat, families and wives of the Apache warriors wept in grief, it is said that their tears turned to stone upon hitting the ground. These specimens are typically found around Superior, Arizona but can also be located in New Mexico and Nevada.   This item is 2” x 1.5” and weighs 4.35 oz
