‘Baby Joe’ is a compact selection of the large growing Joe Pye weed. Though it stays short compared to its big brothers, Baby Joe produces the same fragrant clouds of lavender-pink to mauve blooms that attract hoards of butterflies in late summer. A sturdy perennial with coarse, dark, maroon-tinged green foliage and dark purple stems. Easily grown in moist, fertile, humusy soils in full sun to part shade. Also performs well in moist sandy to gravely soils. Soils must not be allowed to dry out. Doesn't like full shade, Self seeds easily.
