Pepper, Pimento Sweet Pepper Seeds
Pimento Sweet Pepper SeedsOpen Pollinated, Non-GMO,20 seeds per packagePimento peppers (aka pimiento pepper) are small heart shaped sweet peppers with a mild flavor and very little heat, commonly stuffed into olives and famous for pimento cheese. They register between 100 and 500 heat units on the Scoville scale, making them one of the mildest of all the chile peppers. Think of them as a sweeter and more aromatic red bell pepper. This sweet pepper is an excellent variety for the home vegetable garden. Abundant yields of heart-shaped fruits turn from green to red when mature. An incredibly sweet, bright red, thick-fleshed pimento pepper, great raw, as well as for cooking, roasting, and canning.Sow seed in containers, raised beds or in ground. Full sun is needed for these peppers. You can sow 8 weeks before last Spring frost. Sow ½” deep in potting soil mix, if using a heat mat it will need to be around 75-80 degrees, 12 to16 hours a day to get them to germinate. The soil needs to be lightly moist until germination. When the last frost has passed you can plant your seedlings outside, but be sure to allow them to go through a hardening off time before you place them directly in the ground or outside in containers. The seedlings need to adjust to full temps and wind.Or you can direct sow the seeds after last frost has passed. They do well in good draining soil, full sun and keep the soil lightly moist until germination. As you learn how much water your plant needs as it grows, just test the soil with your finger. If it is dry about an inch down then water the plant. Watering most plants works best to water at ground level instead of overhead watering so the foliage stays dry.Season: AnnualPlant Height: approx. 30”Bloom Color: peppers are green then turn redEnvironment: Full sunSoil Type: Well-drainingDeer Resistant: YesTemperature: 70-75F Plant Spacing: approx. 16” apart, in ground or large containerSow 1/2” deepAverage Germ Time: approx. 6 - 12 daysMoisture: Keep seeds moist until germinationPlant Spacing: 18 - 24 inchesApprox. 80 to 85 days to maturity
