Deposit | Private Pottery Class

The deposit is non-refundable.  Looking for something fun to do for a special occasion, or because you'll be vising the Starved Rock area? Let's make some pottery! We offer two class structures, either pottery wheel or hand-building.  Option 1: Pottery Wheel Class No prior experience needed for this 3-hour introduction to working on the pottery wheel. We focus on creating a relaxing and memorable experience as we slowly walk through each step of the process. We start with a behind-the-scenes tour of the pottery studio before moving on to the basics of how to prepare the clay with a technique called wedging. This process will set us up for success once we jump onto the wheel! After preparing our clay, the instructor will provide a demonstration of the five main steps we go through when throwing a piece of pottery on the wheel. Students will then be guided step-by-step through each skill, and provided hands-on-corrections as needed.  Each student will be provided 4 x 1.5 lb balls of clay
