"Sad" is an Old English word that means "solid." These cast iron irons were heated on the wood stove. Made by A.C. Williams Company in Ravenna Ohio. They were made heavy to hold heat and press cloth smooth. This has a removable wood handle. Circa mid to late 1800s. Can be used as a door stop.
