Cape Cod Ruby Salt and Pepper Shaker

     Avon produced many items over the years. One of the most popular patterns was the Cape Cod Ruby. This Cape Cod Ruby salt and pepper shaker set was made in 1978. Today the pattern status is discontinued and was only being product from 1975 to 1995. A special red glass formula was developed exclusively for the Cape Cod Ruby Collection. The specification for the glass was to be a dark red color with no hint of yellow color in the glass. It was extremely hard to maintain this dark red color, since the glass needed to be heated to an exact temperature. The Cape Cod Ruby Collection did not start, becoming popular, until the early 1960s when Avon began producing a line of novelty containers for their perfumes and colognes line. Avon continued to add new pieces to the Cape Cod collection each year while some items were discontinued at the same time.
