After World War ll in 1947, the supreme commander for the allied powers issued instruction that all export items from japan must be identified with “Made in Occupied Japan" or “Occupied Japan”. After 1952, products from Japan were either marked "Japan" or "Made in Japan". Products marked "Occupied Japan" or "Made in Occupied Japan" are products dated from 1947 to 1952 and are not usually considered "Made in Japan" products. In 1949, this decree was repealed and “Made in Japan” or “Japan” could be used on export products. In 1952 when U.S. occupation of Japan formally ended then “Made in Japan” and “Japan” became the standard hallmark on Japan’s export products to be sold in United States.
