Dan Barley

Dan Barley

$7.00

(Hordeum vulgare); 6-rowed; Hull-less; Awned; Fall-planted A modern (2009) 6-rowed barley cultivar, Dan was developed by a whole passel of researchers in Virginia (yes, I know, not a Great Lakes Region state, BUT! it is hull-less!) That it is a broadly adapted winter hull-less cultivar with superior grain quality, strong straw that doesn't lodge and resistance to fusarium head blight makes it a perfect cultivar for a self-sufficient homestead (did I mention it is hull-less!?!) Dan is an early maturing barley for us and is very productive in defiance of weed pressure (only 30 hours in a day, right?) Despite its awns, Dan is a pleasure to thresh - the resulting bin of hull-less barley grains quite satisfying.
