Hackmanite is an exceptionally rare form of Sodalite, and is quite unusual in the mineral kingdom in that it possesses a quality known as “tenebrescence” or reversible photochromism. In other words, Hackmanite is one of the few minerals that changes color when exposed to sunlight from a light cream color to shades of lavender, greys and even green.
