 Import.  While she might be best know as a disco diva, Staton had a long career before that and after, sort of returning full circle, as she did in the beginning, going from a long spell in gospel and returning to secular music after her 2004 anthology of Fame 1960s material caused a stir.  This gem of a long-player comes from 2009, issued in a textured sleeve and showing she was not done yet, her age fitting well with this type of material.  - winch (green noise)   Artist Biography by Bil Carpenter   Born March 13, 1940, in Hanceville, AL, Candi Stanton sang with the Jewell Gospel Trio as a teenager. They toured the traditional gospel circuit in the 1950s with the Soul Stirrers, C.L. Franklin, and Mahalia Jackson. They recorded several sides for Nashboro, Apollo, and Savoy Records between 1953 and 1963. In 1968 Staton launched solo career as a Southern soul stylist, garnering 16 R&B hits for Rick Hall's legendary Fame Studios and gaining the title of First Lady of Southern S
