Various Artists – LOST SOULS VOL. 1 PT. 1 [1960s Arkansas Garage Rock YELLOW VINYL]– New LP
Great comp of cuts from Arkansas in the 1960s, not groundbreaking but truly cool, full of fuzz, growls from the garage pulled into pop songs...a more amateurish version of what we'd hear with bands like the Box Tops from Memphis (where some of these cuts were recorded). While these songs clearly fit in with the young American garage rock sounds of the mid 1960s, these also have something unique, a thread that seems to run through the cuts. Even the recordings from late in the decade sound more like the middle of the decade, with the music of late 1960s still having an influence. It's that combination of isolated and connection (and the combination of professionalism with the freedom of having brains and bodies young) that helps make these songs so cool...a similar situation (and yet different sounds) than what we witnessed happen in the isolation of the peninsula of Michigan during the changing times of these same years...young people a bit beyond on the times delivering tunes tha
