The Sargent Crabapple Tree (Malus sargentii) as a dense, spreading, horizontally-branched, deciduous, multi-stemmed shrub. Sargent can also be grown as a compact landscape tree. Spring (May) bares abundant clusters of fragrant white flowers. Because of its size, the Sargent crabapple is useful for planting under utility lines, in confined yards, as privacy screens and hedges, and on sloping ground. Is easy to transplant and grow, yields pea-sized fruit that starts out greenish-yellow and then turns bright red, hanging in clusters and persisting into winter. Sargent crabapple generally has good disease resistance. A dwarf species which is effective when planted as a small specimen or in groups, near fences, in borders or as a screen or hedge. May not be an appropriate selection for smaller gardens because of its alternate year bloom. Plant in full sun to partial shade in well drained loamy soils.  Height: 6-8' Width: 9-15' Spacing: 15-20'Zones: 4-7 What you are purchasing is 1 Sargent
