Leather Fighting Tasset

Just released December, 2024!  The GRG Marine “Fighting Tasset” is a rod butt pad we designed to bridge the gap between a gangly fighting belt and an inconvenient rod butt foam sleeve.  You can wear the tasset all day and not have to regrip or readjust when in a critical fight with a stout fish on the line and the rod can go straight into a rod holder when re-baiting. Inspired by medieval leather armor and built using a combination of hand work and modern technology, our Fighting Tasset was refined through several design and testing iterations.  It stays put and has the right flexibility to “wear and forget”, minimize the rod butt pressure on your hip, and eliminate damage to your clothing. Laser cut acrylic plates are sandwiched between layers of vacuum molded genuine leather which is then sewn together.  Two-sided belt clips are then installed with brass hardware making it reversable for left or right-side use.  Finally, we oil the leather and give it an initial break in before it re
