These beautiful bracelets are hand-made by women in Tosagua, Ecuador, as part of The Eden’s Rose Foundation's Macramé Project. Many of the women involved in the Macramé Project are mothers, relatives or caregivers of the up to sixty children under five at the ERF's Basic Needs Center in Tosagua, located in the inland area of the coastal province of Manabí. The Macramé project began with the purpose of providing gainful employment to women through the revival of local skills and crafts. Today, over 300 women have participated in free classes and many of the original students are now paid teachers. This project is building a sense of achievement and in many cases a fully participating woman can double her yearly household income by creating macramé in her free time while caring for her children and creating a loving and safe environment.
