InterLux 1000 Watt Pulse Start Metal Halide Grow Lamp

The Interlux 1000 Watt MH Pulse Start Grow Light Bulb is a high output lamp that delivers a full 120,000 lumen. It has a color spectrum heavy in bluish light, making it ideal for vegging and maximizing growth. What is the difference between a pulse start MH and a regular MH? Pulse start bulbs are more efficient and last longer, but they do cost a bit more. Traditional MH bulbs start up by creating a small discharge between electrodes inside the arc tube. Every time this happens, tungsten sputters from the electrodes, which can blacken the walls of the arc tube and reduce the performance of the bulb. Pulse start bulbs use an igniter instead. Not having the electrode inside the arc tube means less seal is required at the base of the bulb and heat loss is reduced. It also reduces tungsten sputtering, which increases lamp life, decreases warm-up time and decreases the deterioration in output over time (more info here).
