Organic Blueberry O'Neal (Ea)
Southern Highbush Zones: 7-9 (hardy in these zones, 5b-6 zones needs winter protection) Harvest: Early ripening Fruit: large berries that are sweet and firm Facts of note: O’Neal is a very early ripening, low-chill, highbush blueberry. Developed in North Carolina, O’Neal is an exceptional plant for the Southeast and Gulf States. O’Neal has large berries that are sweet and firm, and pick cleanly from the bush. Yields of 6-10 pounds of high quality fruit can be produced on mature plants. O’Neal grows 4-6′ tall with stout stems and attractive foliage, and has an upright, spreading habit. Will do well with spring protection in zones 5b-6 (it is winter hardy in those zones too). For zones 7 and warmer, no protection is needed, and O’Neal will perform very well.
