Anglers' Choice Fish Venting Tool

The Anglers Choice Fish Venting Tool is a required tool for deep water fishing.  With proper use of this venting tool you can release a healthy fish to spawn and perhaps be caught again. Many deep water wreck and reef fish have a swim bladder that controls buoyancy. When caught from over 50 ft., the gas from the bladder can over-expand and fill the body cavity with trapped gases. In this bloated condition the fish cannot return to safe habitat and may die from sun exposure or surface predators. If the fish looks bloated...exhibits inverted stomach...bulging eyes...or when partially tail released, it floats...the fish requires venting. If the fish appears normal and does not struggle on the surface when tail released...it does not require venting. To vent a fish, insert needle into the fish at a 45° angle approximately 1-2 inches behind the base of the pectoral fin. Insert tip just deep enough to release gases but not damage the internal organs...escaping gas is audible and deflation i
