Women's AIARE 1 Avalanche Course

Now Offering Women's AIARE 1 Courses! Online Course plus 2 Field Days The Women’s AIARE 1 is designed for women (queer, trans, and cis-gendered) who want to build the skills, confidence, and judgment needed to safely explore avalanche terrain. Led by female-identifying AIARE instructors, this course combines classroom instruction in Glacier, Washington, field days at Mount Baker, and online learning.  Students can expect an introduction to avalanche hazard management, to develop a good grounding in how to prepare for and carry out a backcountry trip, to understand basic decision making while in the field, and to learn rescue techniques required to find and dig up a buried person (if an avalanche occurs and someone in the party is caught).
