The “leads” are made of a waxy chalk that adheres to your fabric without soaking in like the ink in other markers. Lines can be washed out or erased with the built-in eraser. The package includes: Mechanical pencil with 6 white leads 6 dark green lead refills Tips for using the pencil: To load a lead: Pull the red end with the eraser off of the marker and drop a lead in the barrel. Replace the end and start clicking. It may take a dozen or more clicks until you see the tip of the lead start to come out of the tip of the pencil. To prevent breakage, don’t extend the lead too far out beyond the tip of the pencil.
