Cobra Carafe

German-born designer Constantin Wortmann believes that design need not take itself too seriously — and his Cobra collection for Georg Jensen illustrates that philosophy with its simplicity, beauty and quirkiness. This water carafe’s organic form makes a stylish addition to a dining table but also has a practical side too as the narrow neck makes the decanter easy to hold and pour. Made of clear glass, it can hold up to 25 ounces of water, juice or wine. After establishing his company in Copenhagen in 1904, Georg Jensen set out to create democratic designs possessing both functionality and beauty. Embracing the Art Nouveau lines of the day, his work is characterized by serene flowing forms enriched by exquisitely sculpted ornamentation and his own distinctive vigor.
