Spine with original red calf title label, gilt panels & devices. Board edges decorated in black & gilt, bottom corners worn through. xxvii. pp. Preface; 521 pp. text. (1) errata.  Light scuff mark to front paste-down, small 1" crescent hole in center of tp, top of tp with old repair; 1" bottom margin of one leaf (pp. 301-2) cut away with no loss of text; 2 leaves (pp. 101-2 & 201-2) torn in the bottom margin affecting bottom line of texts.
