[10911] Teal cloth stamped in blind & gilt, some edgewear with frayed corner tips, small chip head of spine, 9 x 6 3/4 inches. Frontispiece plus five additional plates, 74 clean pages; several leaves at the front loosening with nothing detached. Good. Hardcover. A story about a girl who gives the gift of a portfolio to her grandmother, and what she puts in it. Incidents include the Fourth of July, Fireworks, Letters, with one plate titled, "Receiving the Daguerreotypes." Hammatt Billings (1818-1874), a native of Boston, Massachusetts; artist, illusrator, and architect. He is perhaps best known as the illustrator for the first two edition of Uncle Tom's Cabin.
