Large display chart for classroom use, bound in a heavy buckram with metal pegs mounted on the rear cover holding the charts open in place. Closed volume measures 12 x 26 inches, with paper charts opening to 22 x 24 inches. Occasional minor marking, primarily on the first 6 pages. Buckram-covered boards with soil/staining and a good deal of rubbing. Unwieldy and a bit battered from use. [with]The Beacon Primer, also published by Ginn & Co. 1912. First Edition. Green cloth 8vo, 120pp. With illustrations by G. A. Harker printed in two colors. Very Good+ with intermittent child's writing/marks in pencil. The Phonetic Chart corresponds to lessons in Part I of the Primer. It was the first educational work published by Fassett (1869-1930), who had previously written on the history of New Hampshire. A Dartmouth graduate, he was appointed State Superintendent of Schools in 1893 and had specific ideas for how reading and writing should be taught, including that the alphabet should be taught
