The adhesive layer holds the skin to the ski base, while allowing it to be removed effortlessly, without leaving any residue, and continue to work wonderfully in freezing conditions even if it is attached multiple times. The second layer holds the back of the skin and the first adhesive layer together, ensuring that the adhesive remains on the skin during removal rather than on your ski. This second layer glue also provides the advantage of being able be stick the adhesive side of the skins together for downhill skiing without the need for a protective film, as the adhesive surface is kept bonded to the skin via this second layer adhesive.
