The gopher tortoise is a "keystone species" in the Sandhill Ecosystem; that means that if you have a gopher tortoise, you probably have around 350 other species living around it. The gopher tortoise shares it's burrow (which is anywhere from 6 to 40 feet long, and is at an angle from ground level to just above the water table so it's always a steady 72 degrees inside) with mice, snakes, frogs, and countless insects, to name a few things. So what about making this colorway a keystone of your stash? It's a solid color that will go with just about anything, or show off a good cabled pattern on it's own. HaldeCraft HandDyed yarns started life in 2007 in a small yarn store in Gainesville, Florida (Hanks Yarn and Fiber) and was then called "Perhaps Today is a Good Day to Dye". It has continued online as HaldeCraft HandDyed since 2011, and is hand-dyed and lovingly re-skeined in a small home studio by someone who loves the fiber arts just as much as you do.
