Nakayama Asagi – Natural Japanese Water Stone Nakayama is one of the oldest and most renowned natural whetstones from Japan, with a quarry history of over 900 years. This stone comes from the famous Nakayama mine, known for producing highly consistent and high-performance finishing stones. This Asagi-type stone has a medium hardness (rated 4 – 4+), making it versatile and user-friendly. It delivers excellent uniformity and refined feedback, suitable for both water-only use and slurry sharpening – either from the stone itself or using nagura stones.
