Song by Stephen Foster. Arrangements for lever and pedal harp by Anne Sullivan. This classic Stephen Foster song was written in 1862-1863 and mourns for a loved one, Willie, who has gone off to fight in the Civil War.  It is worth noting that both Foster's father and half-brother were named William (Willie).  It is a romantic wistful ballad in which you can hear the undertones of war; lovely arpeggios and the simple melody are accompanied by a drum-like rhythm in the chorus. The song would pair well on a program with a piece like the "Battle Hymn of the Republic." The PDF includes three arrangements: two identical intermediate versions for lever or pedal harp, one in E-flat Major and one in C Major, as well as a more advanced version for pedal harp. Each arrangement is 3 pages long. Watch on YouTube Get 50% off this arrangement when you also purchase my arrangement of Two Pieces by Stephen Foster.
