Each of our shuttles is hand sanded to 800 grit, giving them a feel as smooth as silk. As weavers ourselves, we make sure there are no wood fibers to snag the finest of yarns.Beautiful and sturdy, each measures just under 1/4" thick tapering to a heavy 1/16" to enable the edge to pack your weft yarn tightly into place. The shuttle width is 1-3/4".Made here on our farm, each has its own unique grain and color characteristics. We use only petroleum-free, natural oil finish.About the wood used to make our shuttles:The wood used to make this product was harvested either on our family farm or a private woodlot within a 50 mile radius. We primarily harvest trees during the winter, when the ground is frozen and there is lesser chance of damage to the forest floor.
