Crossandra-Tropic Flame

Tropic Flame is a type of Crossandra. Hardy in Florida, Southern California and South America. Can be used in outdoor containers or landscape plantings in southern USA. Very popular in the northeast as an excellent indoor pot plant during winter and summer months. Plants love heat but are susceptible to cold drafts and cool night temps. Crossandra seeds are difficult to germinate.   To germinate Crossandra seeds, start them indoors in late winter or early spring by sowing them in a seed-starting mix, covering them lightly with soil, and keeping the soil moist and warm (78–82°F). Soaking the seeds in warm water for 12-24 hours can also help, though it may not be necessary for all seed types. Maintain a high humidity by covering the tray with plastic or glass. Germination typically takes 7-10 days. Once the seedlings have a few sets of true leaves, transplant them into indivi
