Police Academy 3: Back in Training (1986) is the third installment in the popular comedy film series. In this sequel, budget cuts force the state to close one of its two police academies. Commandant Eric Lassard's academy faces off against Commandant Mauser's, with both institutions striving to prove their worth. Lassard enlists the help of his former star graduates—including Sgt. Mahoney, Hightower, Tackleberry, and Jones—to train a new batch of recruits. These recruits include the timid Sweetchuck, the unpredictable Zed, and the eager Karen Adams. As both academies compete, Mauser resorts to underhanded tactics to sabotage Lassard's team. Despite the challenges, Lassard's group demonstrates their competence during a real-life crisis, ultimately securing the future of their academy.
