With an Alpine Spruce over Hawaiian Koa back and sides, this special nylon string guitar provides the ultimate in clarity and balance. Designed so that it would feel very comfortable for classical and steel string players alike. The neck has enough width to accommodate the nylon strings but at the same time the cambered fingerboard allows for a wide variety of playing styles. The Lowden Jazz is fitted with an onboard pickup as standard. The soundbox is voiced for a really great acoustic response, and at the same time stiff enough to prevent the whole guitar from overreacting when played loud through a sound system.  "In general terms, when you use Spruce for a top, I expect the guitar to take some time to loosen up and mature. In fact, if the guitar is too 'exciting' at the beginning, I might have concerns about how the guitar was going to mature because our goal is to make guitars that sound increasingly better over the course of its lifetime.
