Organic Einkorn Sourdough Bread topped with Sesame Seeds
Organic Einkorn is one of the most healthy, unique tasting, easily digestible ancient grains in existence which was planted by the first farmers 12,000 years ago and has never been genetically altered since then. It is absolutely superior in it's health benefits and tastes like no other bread. Einkorn in German means “one grain”. It get its name because it literally has a single grain attached to its stem, (while most of the other grains we use have four). It is the only variety of wheat that we use today which has not been crossed with other species and although it's not gluten free, it's weak gluten makes it easy to digest, so if you are moderately gluten sensitive or just want to reduce the amount of it in your diet, einkorn is a great alternative.
