Ethiopia Guji Organic Kayon Mountain

From the importer: Guji is a remote, heavily forested region in southeastern Oromia, Ethiopia, known for its rugged terrain and preservation of natural forests. The local Guji tribe, part of the Oromo ethnic group, has long resisted deforestation and mining, helping to maintain the region’s dense forest canopy. Much of Guji remains untouched and feels incredibly remote, with coffee farms often starting at elevations of 2,000 meters or higher. Kayon Mountain, located near Taro in the Odo Shakiso district, is a rare, large-scale coffee estate founded in 2012 by Ismael Hassen, a native of the region. The estate covers over 500 hectares and is planted with select Ethiopian coffee varieties developed by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center, including the disease-resistant 74110 and 74112 cultivars.
