Rwanda Organic Dukunde Kawa Mbilima

From the importer: Dukunde Kawa is a prominent Rwandan coffee cooperative known for producing high-quality coffee and maintaining strong ethical and environmental standards. It holds multiple certifications, including Fair Trade, Organic, Rainforest Alliance, and UTZ, and over 80% of its workforce are women. Based in Rwanda’s lesser-known Northern Province, the cooperative was founded in 2000 and has grown to include more than 2,000 farmer members and several washing stations in the Gakenke District. It has earned recognition from the Specialty Coffee Association and Rwanda’s Cup of Excellence. One of its washing stations, Mbilima, was established in 2005 to reduce the distance farmers had to travel to process their harvest. Located at an elevation of 2,020 meters—among the highest in Rwanda—it benefits from nutrient-rich soils and a cool climate that prolongs the harvest
