The bases of the hourglass are crafted from a premium wood known as curly cherry. This type of cherry gets its name from the rare and beautiful bold, wavy grain pattern, and this type of grain is very unusual to come by. The curly cherry bases are matched with solid American black walnut rope shaped pillars, and these premium woods are sealed with a durable gloss finish. The black walnut simulates the logs in your hearth or campfire, while the curly cherry represents the flames. This Heirloom Hourglass is completed with a solid pewter ship wheel closure, and you may also customize your hourglass with a wide variety of other closures found on our website.
