Antique Caucasian Shirvan Runner - 2'8 x 9'7
This Shirvan runner was handwoven in the Eastern Caucasus at the turn of the 20th century. The field is composed of a variation on a lattice design woven in soft blues and yellows on a peach ground. The main border is a double S scroll design on a white ground. The two minor borders feature diagonal stripes in a multitude of alternating colors. Double selvedge in dark blue wool. In excellent condition, signs of wear consistent with age. Pile is low and very finely woven with a soft handle.
