Antique Serapi Rug - 10'3 x 13'1
This Serapi rug was handwoven during the late 19th century. It features the classic Heriz layout with a graphic geometric central medallion. Great quality 19th-century Heriz rugs are often referred to as Serapi. Serapi patterning like what is exhibited here is often looser and freer than most later Heriz rugs. Serapis also have a softer palette and can include some unexpected tones. A soft and balanced palette of soft brick, coral, powder blue, wheat, and coral contrasts well against ivory and deep navy.
