Small Antique Shahsavan - 1’6 x 1’8
This soumak was handwoven by the Shahsavan during the late 19th century. It features a lovely field of wonky diagonal lines in various soft and patinated tones of red, pink, blue, green, and yellow. Framed by multiple small borders that include repeating rosettes, a classical meandering vine, and most interestingly a border of matching diagonals. Woven completely of hearty undyed brown wool which makes its presence known in the worn areas as well the coarse fringes. A great wall or learning piece!
