Midcentury Yomud Turkmen Rug - 3'3 x 4'9
This Turkmen rug was handwoven by the Yomud during the middle of the 20th century in Central Asia. It features an allover "dyrnak gul" latch-hooked diamond design in red, ivory, orange, green and blue on an aubergine ground. With a "curling leaf" main border and a wonderful alternating "eagle" design skirt border on the top and bottom. Both the field design and skirt border are luxuriously spaced with the addition of a second lighter purply exclusive to the skirts giving the motifs more visual impact. In very good condition. All four sides have been reinforced for longevity.
