Contents Description: In 1878 the Texas Adjutant General published a paper-covered 227-page book entitled List of Fugitives from Justice for distribution to the Texas Rangers Known as "The Book," the now very rare list provided a quick reference by county of persons wanted, their crimes, and often a brief physical description of the fugitive. Gillett took his copy of "The Book" and had it bound along with blank notebook paper in a buckled leather case to carry with him in his saddlebags for quick reference while on the move. - from the back cover
