Description of Significance: Large prestige ornaments like this substantial anklet symbolized wealth, signifying that the owner was exempt from manual labor. Crafted from copper alloy, the anklet was puddle cast in the earth and then shaped into a cylindrical form. A mat made from plant fibers was used to shield the wearer’s leg and foot.
