From late spring to early summer linden bears an abundance of fragrant, tiny white yellow flowers clustered in cymes (flower clusters with a central stem). These flowers are extremely delicate, so an elongated feathery bract forms at the base of the flower cluster to protect it and aid in seed dispersal.
