San Diego is one of my favorite cities in California, which is saying a lot since I love every city in California. The first time I visited, I'd driven 19 hours across the Southwest and stopped in Mission Beach dead tired. As soon as I saw the seals, huge waves and incredible food, I got my second wind and never wanted to leave.
