The oak is one of earth's most sacred trees, respected worldwide as a symbol of earthly strength, wisdom, and endurance. It is strongly associated with the 'divine masculine,' and is the sacred to the kingly gods of thunder, such as Zeus (Greek), Perun (Slavic), and Thor (Norse). Perhaps this is because of the mighty size of these trees, their muscular lighting-bold shaped branches, and the fact that they are more likely to be struck by lightning, and will often survive the blast.
