Magritte painted The Son of Man as a self-portrait. It consists of a man in a coat and bowler hat standing in front of a low wall, behind which is the sea and a cloudy sky. The man's face is largely obscured by a floating green apple. Another subtle feature is that the man's left arm appears to bend backwards at the elbow. © C.H./ADAGP, Paris 2020Material composition: 83% cotton, 15% polyamide, 2% elastaneCountry of origin: Italy
