Van Gogh probably had only a little paint left when he made this in Saint-Rémy. He had also run out of canvas. So he used diluted oil paint on cardboard for this view of the garden of the asylum. He had only recently arrived and was not yet allowed to work outside the garden walls. Later he was allowed to draw and paint outside the complex. © Van Gogh Museum, © VGME B.V.Material composition: 83% cotton, 15% polyamide, 2% elastaneCountry of origin: India
